New Report: Why customers drop off from checkout - and what keeps them coming back
Kustom’s new report, “How Nordic shoppers check out and pay”, based on data collected by Ipsos, shows that unexpected post-purchase costs – such as invoice fees or interest charges – have a major impact on consumer loyalty. As many as 82% of shoppers say they would avoid returning to a store if the final cost turned out higher than expected. Shipping also plays a critical role at checkout – high delivery costs are the most common reason shoppers abandon their carts.

Fintech company Kustom is adding physical payments to its existing checkout offering, taking on the competition for omnichannel solutions for merchants. With Kustom Mobile POS, merchants can easily turn their smartphones into card terminals via the Kustom app. The solution makes it easier to accept payments without additional hardware, seamlessly integrating with the digital checkout system. This makes Kustom the first company in the Nordics to unify digital and physical payments in one system.

Kustom toppar ledningen med tunga branschprofiler
Checkoutbolaget Kustom inleder 2025 med rekryteringar av två erfarna fintech-profiler. Frank Hoffmann, som tidigare haft ledande positioner på Volvo Cars och Klarna – där han var en av nyckelpersonerna bakom den ursprungliga checkouten – blir CTO. Erik Olofsson, tidigare vd på Rebtel och med erfarenhet från ledande roller på betalbolaget Stripe, tillträder som COO.

Nu blir Klarna Checkout, även kallat KCO, det fristående bolaget Kustom. Med 24 000 e-handlare och en årlig transaktionsvolym på över 150 miljarder kronor etablerar sig Kustom nu som den ledande digitala kassalösningen på den nordiska marknaden. Bolaget blir även en av de största digitala kassalösningarna i Europa.
