This partnership brings our products closer together to create a more unified setup for you. As part of it, Kustom is acquiring Vipps MobilePay Checkout and becomes a recommended checkout partner for Vipps MobilePay.

By combining our strengths, we can focus on what we each do best. Kustom remains an independent checkout solution, bringing together everything that powers a stellar checkout. At the same time, Vipps MobilePay continues enabling shoppers across the Nordics to pay with the methods they know and trust. The result is less complexity behind the scenes, easier expansion across markets and more shoppers able to pay the way they prefer.


What does this mean for you with Vipps MobilePay Checkout?
If you’re using Vipps MobilePay Checkout today, you'll be upgraded to Kustom Checkout. You’ll continue offering Vipps MobilePay, the most widely used and trusted payment methods in the Nordics, while gaining access to Kustom’s high-performing checkout. That includes a broader set of capabilities such as pre-fill, flexible payment options and ongoing improvements designed to support higher conversion and more efficient operations. Your existing pricing remains unchanged. The aim is to expand what’s possible, not replace what already works.

What does this mean for you with Kustom Checkout?
If you’re already using Kustom and offering Vipps MobilePay payments through a separate integration, that setup will move directly into Kustom. Instead of managing multiple integrations, everything will live in one place.
Reporting, settlements and payment flows will be handled through Kustom, giving you better visibility and reducing operational overhead. Your shoppers will see Vipps MobilePay alongside your other payment methods, creating a more seamless checkout from start to finish.

Kustom has acquired Vipps MobilePay Checkout and becomes a recommended checkout solution for Vipps MobilePay. In turn, Vipps MobilePay will be available as a payment method to a larger number of new merchants across the Nordics. As part of the partnership, both companies’ products will be specifically optimized for each other.

This opens up new opportunities for growth for our merchants by removing barriers and making it easier to increase cross-market sales across the Nordics and Europe.

If you’re currently using Kustom’s checkout solution and offer Vipps MobilePay payments through a separate integration, you’ll now get access to these payment methods directly through Kustom. That means less technical complexity and a better customer experience.

If you’re using Vipps MobilePay Checkout today, you’ll now have the option to access Kustom’s broader range of checkout services, while keeping your existing pricing.

2. Transition and continuity

You'll continue to offer Vipps MobilePay, one of the most widely used and trusted payment methods in the Nordics, and be upgraded to Kustom’s high-performing checkout. With strong conversion rates and high pre-fill levels, Kustom Checkout helps your customers complete their purchases more easily. You can read more about Kustom Checkout here.

Your checkout will also continue to improve through ongoing product development at Kustom. As your business grows, Kustom supports international expansion with localized checkouts and local payment methods across most major markets, so you can scale without rebuilding your checkout setup.

Your Vipps MobilePay Checkout will continue to operate as normal until the transition. When it is time to switch to Kustom Checkout, you’ll be guided through a structured onboarding process based on your current setup and platform.

Your agreement with Vipps MobilePay relating to your checkout will be transferred to Kustom, who will become your contractual partner going forward.

You can upgrade from your current checkout to Kustom Checkout until April 30, 2027 when Vipps MobilePay Checkout is discontinued.

Yes, you'll need to onboard to Kustom before Vipps MobilePay Checkout is discontinued on April 30, 2027.

You’ll be kept informed throughout the transition and well in advance of any changes. We’ll send email updates as soon as there’s news to share, and this FAQ will be updated regularly with relevant questions and details.

Before you transition to Kustom Checkout, contact Vipps MobilePay for any transactions made through your Vipps MobilePay Checkout.

During the transition, Kustom will support you with the onboarding process and integration.

Once your transactions start to flow though Kustom Checkout, Kustom will handle all support.

Your checkout performance will remain unchanged, and you won’t need to plan for any service disruptions during the transition.

Yes, Kustom will be the provider for all your Vipps MobilePay transactions. If you use multiple payment products from Vipps MobilePay, such as Express and Recurring, there will be a gradual transition to Kustom.

You don’t need to take any action right now. The onboarding to Kustom will depend on your e-commerce platform and existing integrations. When it’s time to switch to Kustom Checkout, we’ll guide you through each step and clearly outline anything needed from your side well in advance.

You can choose to complete your onboarding to Vipps MobilePay Checkout or simply start onboarding to Kustom Checkout instead.

If you choose Kustom Checkout, the Kustom team will support you throughout the entire integration process to ensure a seamless transition. Start your onboarding process here.

If you decide to complete your onboarding to Vipps MobilePay Checkout, please note that you'll need to transition to Kustom no later than April 30, 2027.

Vipps MobilePay will contact you by phone or email to confirm your preferred option and guide you through the next steps.

3. Legal agreement and pricing

No, nothing will change with your current pricing.

The parts of your existing Vipps MobilePay agreement related to Checkout services will be assigned from Vipps MobilePay to Kustom effective on April 30, 2026. This means that Kustom AB will be your new legal counterparty for the Checkout services.

No, you don't have to sign a new agreement.

These changes will take effect on April 30, 2026. From that date, Kustom AB will become your new legal counterparty for the Checkout services.

No, all services that related to Vipps MobilePay Checkout will move to your existing Kustom agreement. If you use any other Vipps MobilePay products, they will continue to apply under your existing agreement with Vipps MobilePay.

No, your obligations as a merchant remain the same, and you'll retain the same contractual protections and service levels.

However, as Kustom will be responsible for the checkout solution, Stripe will become the payment service provider (PSP) for the Vipps MobilePay transactions following technical migration.

To enable payment processing with Stripe, your agreement will be updated to reflect Stripe as the PSP. You’ll be asked to acknowledge and agree to Stripe’s terms.

4. Product and integration

When you switch to Kustom, your shoppers will check out through Kustom Checkout instead of Vipps MobilePay Checkout.

This means the checkout interface will be updated to Kustom’s familiar look and feel once you are fully onboarded. Vipps will remain available as a payment method for merchants selling in Norway, and MobilePay in Finland and Denmark, alongside card payments and Klarna.

The user experience inside the Vipps MobilePay app will not be affected by this change.

When you transition to Kustom, you'll get access to a fully optimized checkout, and you won’t lose any of the functionality you have today.

In terms of payment methods, all the options you've previously offered through Vipps MobilePay Checkout will continue to be available for your shoppers, together with Klarna.

You'll be able to create payment links inside the Kustom portal, just as you’ve done in the Vipps MobilePay portal.

You'll be able to continue using Vipps MobilePay Login through Vipps MobilePay, just like before.

You’ll likely only need to install or update the Kustom Checkout plugin or integration for your platform. Some connected systems, such as ERP or accounting tools, may need to be re-integrated. When it’s time to switch, we’ll guide you through the process.

Yes, you can apply for a test environment here.

Kustom Checkout offers a broader feature set than Vipps MobilePay Checkout when it comes to logistics and overall configurability. Depending on your current setup, some adjustments may be needed as part of the integration to Kustom Checkout.

Kustom uses Stripe to for payment processing. After you have switched to Kustom Checkout, all payments will be processed through Stripe. This means that when a customer pays in your store, Stripe is the company working in the background to make sure the money moves safely and ends up with you.

Stripe is used by millions of businesses around the world and is one of the most trusted names in payment processing — so you're in safe hands.
You don't need to have a direct relationship with Stripe or manage anything on their side. Kustom remains your main point of contact for any questions about your setup or transactions.

5. Settlements & operations

Operations

Your day-to-day operations for new Vipps MobilePay transactions processed through Kustom Checkout will be handled in the Kustom portal or via the API.

In the Kustom portal, you can manage orders, refunds, disputes, insights, business details, settings, and payout and settlement details. You can also handle orders, refunds, and settlements through the API.

Yes, you'll still have access to the Vipps MobilePay portal, where your historical data and reports will remain available. You can also manage other Vipps MobilePay products in the portal.

Settlements and payouts

Your existing payout schedule will remain unchanged following the transition to Kustom.

Kustom will handle payouts for transactions initiated after the transition. Transactions initiated before the transition will still be paid out by Vipps MobilePay, even if the capture takes place after the transition.

For a limited period, you can expect to receive payouts from both Vipps MobilePay and Kustom.

Yes, when you move from Vipps MobilePay Checkout to Kustom Checkout, your Vipps MobilePay payouts will no longer be settled in the same way.

You will receive new settlement files from Kustom, and the payout reference on your bank statement will change accordingly.

All your transactions will be included in the payout and settlement report from Kustom, and follow Kustom's standard for settlement reporting.

Fraud screening and risk checks

After the transition, fraud screening and risk checks will be handled by Kustom’s payment processing engine and will follow its jurisdiction restrictions.

Refunds

The refund process will remain the same, and partial refunds will be accepted. Where you handle the refund depends on where the transaction was initiated. Refunds for purchases made through Vipps MobilePay will be handled in the Vipps MobilePay Portal or via API, while refunds for new transactions processed by Kustom will be handled in the Kustom Portal or via API.

No, the repayment time will stay the same.

If you have a negative balance at Vipps MobilePay when you transition to Kustom, it will be invoiced by Vipps MobilePay.

Dispute

After the transition, all disputes will be handled in your Kustom portal. You'll get a notification from the Kustom portal when a new dispute errand is created. You'll respond to it directly in the Kustom portal.

Before transitioning to Kustom, you will still handle your disputes through email via Vipps MobilePay.

No, the timelines will remain the same.

Ongoing disputes for Vipps MobilePay transactions will be handled through Vipps MobilePay.

Dispute fees will be charged according to the payment methods current pricelist.

The payout reversal will be issued by Kustom for transactions initiated after the transition.

To prepare for the technical migration, which will also include your onboarding to Stripe, Vipps MobilePay might ask for your consent to share certain company information required to complete the onboarding process.

Yes, Kustom Checkout is provided in compliance with GDPR.

After the transition to Kustom, all processing of your customers’ data and your own merchant information will be limited to what is required for Kustom to provide the Checkout Solution. All processing will at all times be carried out in accordance with your agreement with Kustom and Kustom’s privacy policy, available at kustom.co/legal.

No. Kustom will not have access to your historical Vipps MobilePay transactions, but you can continue to access them through the Vipps MobilePay portal.

If you're using Vipps MobilePay Express, you'll get a new integration through Kustom, while the user experience remains exactly the same. If you're using Vipps MobilePay Recurring, Kustom will become your provider for recurring payments and the transactions will be transitioned from Vipps MobilePay to Kustom.

For now, Express and Recurring payments will continue to flow through Vipps MobilePay. We’ll let you know well in advance when it’s time for the transition, so you know exactly what to expect.

Vipps MobilePay will be integrated as a payment method into your Kustom Checkout, and Kustom will become the provider for your Vipps MobilePay transactions in Q2 2026.

If you're using Vipps MobilePay Express, the transition to Kustom Express is estimated to start in the second half of 2026.

If you're using Vipps MobilePay Recurring, the transition to Kustom Recurring is estimated to start at the end of 2026.

If you are integrating Vipps MobilePay Express, you can complete your current integration. During the second half of 2026, you will be transitioned to Kustom Express.

If you offer Vipps MobilePay Express today, the shopper experience will remain the same once you transition to Kustom Express. Shoppers can also continue to sign up for recurring Vipps MobilePay payments though Kustom Checkout.
